Chandigarh, July 29- On the occasion of completion of one year of implementation of National Education Policy-2020 in India, Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi today launched various new initiatives for the Education Sector.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister addressed the Governors, Chief Ministers, Education Ministers and Educationists of the states.
Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal, Home and Health Minister Sh. Anil Vij and Education Minister, Sh. Kanwar Pal also participated in this programme through video conferencing from Chandigarh.
During the programme, the Prime Minister launched Vidya Pravesh, Indian Sign Language as a Subject and Nishtha 2.0. Besides this, the Prime Minister also launched the Academic Bank of Credit that will provide multiple entry and exit options for students in Higher education, first-year engineering programmes in regional languages and guidelines for internationalization of higher education.
Similarly, other initiatives including SAFAL (Structured Assessment for Analyzing Learning), a competency based assessment framework for Classes 3, 5 and 8 in CBSE schools, National Digital Education Architecture and National Education Technology Platform were also launched by the Prime Minister.
In his address, Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi said that the National Education Policy-2020 will prove to be a strong foundation for a Atamnirbhar India. It is the first Education Policy of the 21st century and replaces the 34 year old National Policy Education (NPE), of 1986.
He said that this New Education Policy is in line with the needs of the 21st century. He said that the new initiatives launched today will play a big role in building India.
He said that the development of India depends on the young generation and education plays a pivotal role in taking the young generation on the right developmental track. That is why it is most important that right kind of education should being given to the youth today, added the Prime Minister.
He said that in the time of crisis of COVID-19 Pandemic, the importance of online education has been highlighted and the method of education has changed. The most important thing is that the students have rapidly adopted this change in education, he added.
He urged the teachers to contribute in the successful implementation of the Education Policy and educate the youth and take them forward towards nation building.
During the programme, the Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal directed the officers of the Education Department to ensure speedy implementation of the new initiatives initiated by the Prime Minister in the state so that Haryana’s target of ensuring successful implementation of National Education Policy (NEP) by the year 2025 can be completed.
On this occasion, Haryana Higher Education Council Chairman Prof. B K Kuthiala, Chief Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Shri D.S. Dhesi, Additional Chief Secretary, School Education Department, Shri Mahavir Singh, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Shri V. Umashankar, Additional Principal Secretary to Chief Minister and Director General Information, Public Relations and Languages, Dr. Amit Agarwal, Director, Secondary Education Shri J. Ganesan, Deputy Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Smt. Ashima Brar and other officials were present.
