Chandigarh, May 24- To prevent the spread of Tuberculosis, Director General Health Services, Haryana, Dr. Veena Singh has today urged media persons to spread awareness regarding TB-Free India campaign using different media platforms.
Director General Health Services, Haryana, Dr. Veena Singh was addressing the officials of Information and Public Relations Department and media persons during a media workshop on Tuberculosis (TB) Elimination Programme organized by State TB Cell Haryana at Panchluka today. Additional Director, Dr. V.K Bansal was also present in the meeting.
The Director General said that the Central Government has set a resolution to eradicate the Tuberculosis by 2025. ‘TB Harega Desh Jeetega’ slogan has been envisioned by Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi. She said that to fulfill this resolution, the Health Department has been making sincere efforts in a planned manner. She said that efforts at grass root level should be made to eradicate Tuberculosis. Apart from this, emphasis should be laid on slum areas, brick kilns, labor colonies and district jails so that no TB patient should be left untreated. In order to realize the message of ‘TB Harega Desh Jeetega’, every citizen should come forward to successfully eradicate TB across the country.
Additional Director, Health Services Department, Dr. V.K Bansal said that the Government has been making sincere efforts to eradicate TB across the state. He said that important steps are being taken to overcome the disease. State Government is also providing a nutrition allowance of Rs. 500 per month along with a free check-up facility, free treatment and free medicines to the patients across the State. Besides this, State Government is also providing an incentive of Rs. 500 to the new TB patients who are registering at the Government hospital in the State. He urged every section of the society to come forward and contribute for the successful implementation of TB-free India campaign. At rural level, awareness regarding TB prevention should be made through publicity platforms.
Information regarding State TB eradication programme was apprised through a presentation by Dr. Anuj Jhangra, a representative from World Health Organization.
Dr. Sushma Arora, Dr. Varsha, Dr. Anjali Arora, Dr. Rita Kalra, SMO Citizen Hospital, Mrs. Sarita, IEC Officer and other officials of State TB Cell Haryana were present during the event.
