Chandigarh, Aug 22 – A month-long state-wide crackdown on criminals has turned out to be successful for Haryana Police as it has managed to nab 1625 offenders including 36 most-wanted criminals who were not only accused in heinous crime but also carried reward on their arrest as well. Besides, police screws on 584 persons for holding illegal arms.
Disclosing this here today, Director General of Police (DGP), Haryana, Sh Manoj Yadava said that the crackdown was a part of a special drive conducted to check crime rate in the entire state. A total of 932 POs, 652 bail jumpers and 5 parole jumpers were apprehended during the crackdown, which began on July 16. Among the arrested offenders, many of them had been evading arrest for long.
During the drive, the DGP informed that police also arrested 584 persons on the charges of holding illegal arms that resulted in recovery of 436 illegal pistols, 105 desi katta, 19 revolvers, 2 rifles, 2 guns, 10 magazines, 670 cartridges and 23 knives. Our strategies are very clear and any kind of criminal and habitual offender will not be spared, he added.
Maximum 5 most-wanted criminals had been arrested from each of Panchkula, Rohtak and Palwal districts followed by 4 from Sonipat and 3 each from Narnaul and Nuh districts. Our field units including the Special Task Force have launched a special hunt to push the criminals and anti-social elements behind bars.
“We have achieved expected result in checking crime rate and it had been possible due to hard work done by our district police chiefs (CPs/SPs) who alongwith their teams had taken the criminals to their ultimate end by putting them behind bars, he added.”
The DGP said that police was constantly making efforts to check the crime rate as well as to trace and nab notorious and most wanted criminals. We will continue to speed up our operations against the POs, bail jumpers and other hardened criminals in the state.
