Dussehra Celebrated with Grandeur and Devotion in Verka, Thousands Witness Historic Ravana Dahan

The sacred festival of Vijayadashami was celebrated this year in Verka of east constituency with great enthusiasm and religious devotion. At the Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Sports Stadium, Pandori Road, Verka, thousands of people gathered to witness the burning of the effigies of Ravana, Meghnath, and Kumbhkaran. From children to elders, everyone participated in the celebrations with excitement and joy.The event was led by Dinesh Bassi, former Chairman of the Improvement Trust and senior Congress leader.

The program was organized under the supervision of Councillor and Block President Navdeep Hundal. The prominent local MP, Gurjeet Singh Aujla, attended as the chief guest and received a warm and enthusiastic welcome.To make the Dussehra celebrations more colorful and memorable, Shri Rama Krishna National Dramatic Club presented cultural programs. During this, the popular singer Prince Diljit mesmerized the audience with his musical performance. The spectators thoroughly enjoyed the songs and cultural displays.The highlight of the program was when Dinesh Bassi and Gurjeet Singh Aujla jointly pressed the button to burn the effigies of Ravana, Meghnath, and Kumbhkaran. As the flames engulfed the effigies, the entire venue echoed with thunderous chants of “Jai Shri Ram.” Addressing the gathering, Dinesh Bassi said, “Dussehra teaches us that no matter how strong evil may seem, truth always triumphs in the end. This festival inspires us to destroy the Ravana within ourselves—our ego, greed, anger, and corruption.

Meanwhile, Gurjeet Singh Aujla emphasized, “The greatest need today is to unite and eradicate the evils in society. Whether it is addiction, unemployment, or social discrimination, together we can overcome these challenges. If we all pledge collectively, Punjab can once again be led to prosperity and progress.Among the attendees were social worker Manjeet Singh Verka, Temple Committee President Lakha Ji, Pragat Singh Ji from Abadi Sant Nagar, Sanjeev Tangri, Councillor Chhinder Pradhan, Gagan Valla, Billa Kanda, Pawan Rana, Sandeep Shah, and office bearers and members of Rama Krishna Democratic Club, all actively participating in the celebrations.
