The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday categorically stated that Punjab is completely safe and that law and order in the state is firmly under control under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, asserting that the government is enforcing a strict zero-tolerance policy against crime, gangsterism and violence.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has intensified its offensive against gangsters in Punjab, delivering a decisive blow on Monday as Punjab Police arrested wanted shooters in two separate cases from Chhattisgarh and West Bengal. Calling it a clear message from the Bhagwant Mann government, AAP Punjab Chief Spokesperson and MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said the government is determined to hunt down criminals from any corner, even the depths, and reaffirmed that the AAP government is working in full mission mode to make Punjab completely crime-free.

Meanwhile, addressing a press conference in Amritsar, AAP Punjab Chief Spokesperson and MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal praised the Punjab Police for delivering concrete results on the ground and said the Bhagwant Mann government is fulfilling every promise it made to the people. He informed that Punjab Police achieved a major breakthrough by arresting all seven accused involved in the murder of Valtoha Village Sarpanch Jarmal Singh, who was shot in Amritsar, within just eight days.

Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said the Counter Intelligence wing of Punjab Police, in coordination with central agencies and police forces of other states, executed the operation with precision. “The accused had taken shelter in Bihar, Patna, Nanded and Raipur in Chhattisgarh, but Punjab Police tracked CCTV footage for nearly 110 kilometres and pursued them relentlessly across states,” he added.

He further informed that Tarn Taran Police arrested three more accused, Kulwinder Singh Kinda, Armandeep Singh and Harpreet Singh, who arranged the weapons and the motorcycle used in the crime. “The two main accused arrested from Chhattisgarh will be brought to Punjab within the next one or two days, after which significant revelations are expected,” said the AAP Punjab Chief Spokesperson.

Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said these murders are being orchestrated by handlers sitting abroad who arrange funding and weapons locally. Issuing a stern warning, he said that those who shed blood on the soil of Punjab have only two destinations, jail or a police bullet. He assured the people that the Mann government is engaged in a sustained and uncompromising battle against gangsterism and the drug mafia and that Punjab will soon be completely freed from these evil.

He said Punjab takes pride in the courage and commitment of its police force, which protected the state even during its darkest days and continues to work day and night to maintain peace and harmony.

Addressing a press conference at the party office in Chandigarh, AAP Punjab State Media In-charge Baltej Singh Pannu said that certain opposition leaders repeatedly raise questions on law and order, but the ground reality clearly exposes the hollowness of their claims. “The Bhagwant Mann government has given a free hand to the Punjab Police with clear instructions that no criminal will be spared under any circumstances,” he added.

Reiterating the Bhagwant Mann government’s zero-tolerance policy, Baltej Singh Pannu said, “Any person who fires bullets or commits violence will not be dealt with softly; they will be answered in the same language.” He warned gangsters and shooters that those who believe they can commit crimes in Punjab and hide in other states are living in a serious misconception. “Punjab Police will chase them to any state and arrest them,” he said.

Referring to the murder of Valtoha Sarpanch, Baltej Singh Pannu said Punjab Police tracked CCTV footage across nearly 110 kilometres, pursued the accused across states and, with the assistance of Chhattisgarh Police, arrested both shooters. “The person who provided shelter to the accused was also arrested and the shooters are now being brought back to Punjab. Such swift action has sent a strong message that the rule of law prevails in Punjab,” he added.

Highlighting other recent successes, Baltej Singh Pannu said that in Ludhiana’s Haibowal area, two gangsters associated with the Rohit Godara gang, who opened fire on police, were arrested after an encounter. Similarly, in the Mohali firing case involving sports promoter Rana Balachauria, in which a kabaddi player was shot dead, Punjab Police arrested three accused linked to the Ghanshyam gang from Howrah Station.

Responding to opposition questions regarding the Anti-Gangster Task Force, Baltej Singh Pannu clarified that it is precisely this task force that has conducted arrests across different states. “Punjab Police today is equipped with modern vehicles, advanced surveillance systems and the latest technology, enabling it to trace crimes swiftly and solve cases within hours. As a sensitive border state, Punjab often faces attempts to disturb peace, but such forces must understand that their designs will fail,” he added.

Drawing a parallel with the government’s campaign against drugs, Baltej Singh Pannu said the fight against gangsters is also being carried out in a systematic and relentless manner. He asserted that the Bhagwant Mann government neither patronises gangsters nor maintains any links with criminal elements. “No matter who the person is, which family they belong to or what influence they claim, no one will be spared,” he said, warning those attempting extortion, firing or intimidation to be prepared for decisive action by Punjab Police.

Cracking the murder of former Sarpanch from Valtoha, Jarmal Singh, within days, the Commissionerate Police Amritsar has delivered a decisive blow to organised crime by arresting seven accused, including two shooters, linked to the Prabh Dasuwal gang. Reiterating the Chief Minister’s zero-tolerance policy, AAP leaders said criminals operating in Punjab will not be able to hide anywhere and that anyone involved in violence will be tracked down from any corner, within or outside the country, to face the law.

Detailing another major operation, AAP leaders said Ludhiana Police cracked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act, registered at Police Station Haibowal, relating to a firing incident at the shutter of a readymade garments shop carried out by gang members of Rohit Godara. Acting on credible intelligence, police teams laid a strategic naka in the Ladian–Jassian area. Near Government School, Jassian, the suspects attempted to break the naka and opened fire on the police party. The police retaliated in self-defence during a brief encounter, in which accused Sumit Kumar and Sanju sustained bullet injuries and were apprehended, while another accused, Sumit alias Altron alias Tunda, was overpowered and arrested. Further investigation is underway, with Ludhiana Police reiterating its firm resolve that those who dare to fire will not escape the long arm of the law.
