Rs. 7513 crore sent directly to farmers’ accounts: Sh. Dushyant Chautala

Government fulfills the promise of wheat procurement on MSP

Chandigarh, May 24– Haryana Deputy Chief Minister, Sh. Dushyant Chautala said that the State Government is committed to buy every grain of wheat of the farmers at MSP. Farmers are being paid for their crops on time and the money is being sent directly to their bank accounts. So far, Rs 7513.62 crore has been transferred to the accounts of farmers.

In a statement issued here, the Deputy Chief Minister, who also holds the portfolio of Food, Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, said that from April 1 to May 15, 2022, a total of 41,40,135 metric tonne of wheat was procured by various agencies of the government, while when procurement was started again from May 16 till May 23, 2022, 6,441 MT wheat has been procured from the farmers i.e. total 41,46,576 MT wheat has been procured, so far.

Sh. Dushyant Chautala informed that the government had instructed the officials that the money for the purchase of wheat for the Rabi-2022 crop should be transferred to the bank account of the farmer within 72 hours of crop procurement. This time Rs 7513.62 crore has been sent directly to the bank accounts of the farmers for wheat procurement by the State Government. He said that timely lifting of the crop from the mandis was ensured and all necessary arrangements have been made for the farmers at the mandi.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that this time 92 mandis were prepared for the procurement of mustard while 411 mandis were prepared for procurement of wheat, 11 for gram and 25 mandis for barley. He said that the State Government had procured Rabi crops at MSP as committed. Among these crops, mustard was procured at Rs 5,050 per quintal, wheat at Rs 2,015 per quintal, gram at Rs 5,230 per quintal and barley at Rs 1,635 per quintal by various procurement agencies.

He informed that the procurement of wheat is being done by Food, Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, Hafed, Haryana State Warehousing Corporation and Food Corporation of India. Apart from this, gram has been procured by HAFED, mustard has been procured by HAFED and Haryana State Warehousing Corporation and barley has been procured by Food, Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, HAFED and Haryana State Warehousing Corporation Agency.
