CM Shri Chouhan plants Karanj and Jamun saplings in Smart Udyan
Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan planted a Jamun sapling in Smart Udyan today along with three and a half year old girl Khushi. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan also planted a sapling of Karanj. Shri Dheeraj Soni, Dr. Megha Soni and Smt. Achala Sabyasachi of Nar Seva Narayan Seva Samiti who were actively involved in plantations and distribution of food packets and ration kits to the needy during the Corona crisis also accompanied him.
While planting the saplings Khushi said to Chief Minister Shri Chouhan, that she felt happy while planting saplings. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that he was happy to see Khushi’s love for the environment at such a young age. Efforts to make children aware of the environment from an early age, will be helpful in making the coming generation aware and active towards environmental protection. It may be noted that Chief Minister Shri Chouhan plants saplings every day in fulfillment of his resolve. Constant efforts are being made by Chief Minister Shri Chouhan to encourage community participation in the activities of environment conservation by planting saplings with social organizations and people active in the field of environmental protection.
A campaign is being run by Nar Seva Narayan Seva Samiti for generating awareness towards plantation. The committee distributed 80 thousand food packets and 5 thousand ration kits to needy people during the Corona period. The committee has also been distributing blankets to the needy during winters for the last five years. Free tiffin service is being provided twice daily by the committee to the financially and physically weak senior citizens since two years. In addition, free health camps are also organized for the elderly.
The Karanj sapling planted today is considered important in Ayurvedic medicine. Karanj plant is also used for religious purposes. Jamun is an evergreen tree whose fruits are popular for their unique taste and medicinal properties. This tree is found in India and other countries of South Asia and Indonesia etc.
