Secretary, University Grants Commission, Rajneesh Jain has said that Institutional Development Plan (IDP) is very important and necessary for academic quality and excellence. IDP is the vision document of education. Shri Jain was addressing a one-day workshop on Institutional Development Plan for Higher Education Institutions organized at Madhya Pradesh Private University Regulatory Commission in Bhopal on Thursday. The workshop was organized under the joint aegis of Madhya Pradesh Private University Regulatory Commission and Vidya Bharati Institute of Higher Education.
Secretary Shri Jain said that the implementation of National Education Policy will bring revolutionary change in the field of education. He informed that the University Grants Commission has prepared the framework of Institutional Development Plan (IDP). With this, educational institutions can improve their goals and infrastructure. The IDP will also help in increasing the Gross Enrollment Rate of Higher Education. The basic objective of the Institutional Development Plan is to make students a successful citizen by improving the quality and infrastructure of educational institutions. In the National Education Policy, it will be mandatory for every educational institution to prepare an institutional development plan.
Former Vice Chancellor of Kurukshetra University and National President of Vidya Bharati Institute of Higher Education Prof. Kailash Chandra Sharma said that for the first time such a workshop is being organized in the country on Institutional Development Plan for higher education institutions. He said that it is the responsibility of every university to prepare standards of university level from academic point of view. Every organization should be aware of its weaknesses and strengths. The Vice Chancellors of Universities and Principals of Colleges should prepare a time bound strategy. It is very essential to know the vision of your university and college. Set a timeline for your institution. Curriculum should be changed at regular intervals and those subjects should be included which are useful for the students. Take your own initiative for experimental training. All institutions should promote green campus. Chairman of Madhya Pradesh Private University Regulatory Commission Prof. Bharat Sharan Singh said that if the higher educational institutions update the check list under a proper system, then naturally the institutional development plan will be successful.
