After Health Minister Arti Singh Rao’s Intervention, Haryana’s Para Athletes Receive Cash Rewards

Haryana Government sanctions total Rs. 31.72 crore prize money for 17 players and medallists of Para Asian Games

After immediate and swift action by Para Sports Association of Haryana President and Haryana Health Minister Arti Singh Rao, the Haryana Government sanctioned total prize money of Rs. 31.72 crore for cash awards to 17 players from Haryana who participated in the 4th Para Asian Games 2022.

Among the recipients, Pranav Soorma, Raman Sharma and Sumit, all Athletics players, and Tarun Dhillon, a Para Badminton player, have now received Rs. 3 crore each for winning gold medals.

Before this, Haney, an Athletics player, had received Rs. 3 crore for winning a Gold medal. Nitesh Kumar (Para Badminton), received Rs. 3 crore for winning a Gold medal and Rs 1.5 crore for winning the Silver medal. Sarita Adhana (Para Archery) received Rs 1.5 crore for winning the Silver medal. Pooja, Dharambir, Rinku, Parmod, Yogesh Kathuniya, Rampal, and Monu Ghanghas, all Athletics players, each received Rs. 1.50 crore for winning the Silver medal. Anju Bala, a Para Lawn Ball player, Jasbeer, an Athletics player, and Jaideep, a Canoeing player, each received Rs. 7.50 lakh for their participation in the games.

Health Minister Arti Singh Rao said, “Our para-athletes have made Haryana and the entire nation proud with their remarkable achievements. It was our responsibility to ensure they are recognized and rewarded promptly. I am grateful to the Hon’ble Chief Minister for acting swiftly on this matter. The Haryana Government remains fully committed to supporting every athlete who overcomes adversity to bring honour to the country.”

She further said that the state government is dedicated to building a supportive environment for para-sports and that actions like these show its commitment to inclusivity and putting athletes first.

Notably, the players had met Arti Singh Rao a few days ago regarding the disbursal of cash prizes. Responding promptly, the Minister took up the matter with Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, leading to swift action and disbursal of prize money.
