“Hooda Too Had Thrown Me Out of the Assembly Several Times During His Tenure” – Anil Vij
Expelling BJP MLAs from the Assembly Reflects Mamata Banerjee’s Authoritarian Approach and Is Against Democracy- Vij
Authoritarianism Has Already Pushed Hooda Into Political Margins, the Same Awaits Mamata Banerjee- Vij

Haryana’s Energy, Transport, and Labour Minister, Sh. Anil Vij strongly criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for expelling BJP legislators from the Assembly through marshals, calling it an attack on democratic principles.
Vij drew parallels with former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, stating, “During his tenure, Hooda also had me thrown out of the Assembly multiple times. Now Mamata Banerjee is doing the same to BJP MLAs because of her authoritarian style of functioning. But such actions go against democracy.”
Responding to media queries regarding the Kolkata Assembly incident where BJP MLAs were dragged out, Vij said that “India has adopted a democratic system of governance, yet some political parties neither practice democracy internally nor tolerate it in governance. Elected legislators have the right to voice their opinions in the Assembly, but authoritarian leaders cannot accept dissent and resort to silencing them.”
He further added, “Just as Bhupinder Singh Hooda’s authoritarianism eventually pushed him to the political sidelines, the same outcome awaits Mamata Banerjee if she continues down this path. Expelling elected representatives from the Assembly is undemocratic and unacceptable.”
