Jammu, 28 March 2026:

BJP Jammu & Kashmir State Secretary Pawan Sharma today strongly criticized the National Conference, PDP and Congress for misleading the people of Jammu and Kashmir by raising politically motivated demands for the creation of new divisions instead of addressing the genuine administrative needs of the people.

In a strong statement issued here, Pawan Sharma said that there is an immediate and genuine need to create more districts in deserving areas of the Union Territory in accordance with established government norms and administrative parameters. He said that several remote and geographically vast areas continue to suffer due to administrative inaccessibility, and the creation of new districts would significantly improve governance, service delivery and development outreach.

“Instead of focusing on the real issues of governance and public welfare, leaders of the National Conference, PDP and Congress are deliberately misleading people by raising the demand for new divisions. Such statements are not only irresponsible but are clearly aimed at creating confusion and unnecessary regional sentiments among the public,” Sharma said.

He asserted that administrative restructuring must be based on practical governance needs such as population size, geographical challenges, connectivity and administrative efficiency. “Many deserving areas in Jammu and Kashmir, including Nowshera-Sunderbani, Akhnoor, Jammu Boarder, Bhaderwah, Billawar-Basohli and one district between Rajouri and Poonch, qualify for district status under government norms, and creating new districts will bring administration closer to the people, strengthen grassroots governance and ensure faster implementation of development schemes,” he added.

Sharma further said that the demand for creating new divisions is nothing but a politically motivated attempt by National Conference, PDP and Congress parties to divert attention from real governance issues. “People of Jammu and Kashmir are politically aware and will not fall prey to such misleading narratives. What the people truly need is better governance, improved accessibility to government offices and balanced regional development — all of which can be achieved by creating more districts where genuinely required,” he said.

He urged political parties to act responsibly and refrain from spreading narratives that could create unnecessary divisions among the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “Administrative reforms should unite people through better governance, not divide them through political rhetoric,” Sharma stated.

Reaffirming the commitment of the Bharatiya Janata Party to transparent governance and inclusive development, Pawan Sharma said that BJP will continue to raise issues that genuinely benefit the people and strengthen administrative efficiency across Jammu and Kashmir.
