Chandigarh, February 8 :- Haryana Cabinet which met under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal here today gave approval to a proposal regarding amendment in Pension Scheme for the Matribhasha Satyagrahis of Hindi Aandolan-1957.
An amendment in the eligibility criteria of the scheme has been made, so as to include those Satyagrahis who had been imprisoned, but no record of their imprisonment is available in jails.
As per the amendment “In case a Satyagrahi claims to have been imprisoned, but no record of his imprisonment is available in jail record, he will have to produce a certificate of one co-prisoner to the effect that he was in jail with them during the same dates/months with the condition that the jail record of these two co prisoners is available alongwith mention of applicant’s name in the FIR’.
The other eligibility criteria as well as terms and conditions of the scheme will remain the same. However, the new applicant’s pension claim will be considered with effect from the date of recommendations of the Committee constituted for the said purpose.
The Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal while presiding over the closing ceremony of the Swaran Jayanti Celebrations of Statehood of Haryana at Hisar on October 31, 2017, announced to provide a monthly pension of Rs.10,000 to the Matribhasha Satyagrahis and to their spouses in case the Satyagrahi of Hindi Aandolan-1957 has since passed away due to whose struggle and sacrifices Haryana came up as a separate State on the map of India.
