Chandigarh, Aug 18 – In separate incidents, Haryana Police have seized two quintals of ganja (cannabis) in Hisar district and arrested three persons for their involvement in the illegal trade of contraband.
Giving this information here today, a Haryana Police spokesperson informed that based on secret input, the police team had arrested Subhash, a resident of district Eta, Uttar Pradesh after it recovered 6 plastic bags weighing 140 kg of ganja from his truck under Jindal bridge.
During initial investigations, it came to light that the seized contraband had been procured from Raigarh in Odisha.
In another crackdown, a CIA team acting on a reliable input, had seized 60 kg ganja from a pick-up which was intercepted by police near Agroha toll plaza.
Two persons arrested in this connection were identified as Balla Singh and Dalip Singh, both residents of Punjab.
Cases under the provisions of NDPS Act were registered against them and police started investigation to ascertain the roots of the contraband. Further probe is underway, he added.
It is worthwhile to mention here that last week; police recovered 331 kg 300 gram of ganja being smuggled in a tractor-trolley from Chhattisgarh to Uttar Pradesh in Palwal district.
