Haryana Governor, Mr. Satyadeo Narain Arya called upon the Vice-Chancellors and Academicians

Chandigarh, August 18 – Haryana Governor, Mr. Satyadeo Narain Arya today called upon the Vice-Chancellors and Academicians to take initiative in implementing the new National Education Policy in an effective and speedy manner so that the younger generation becomes self-reliant with change in the education system in the country and the state. Mr. Arya was addressing the Vice-Chancellors and Academicians at Digital Conclave organized by Haryana State Higher Education Council.

He said that the people associated with the education sector will be responsible to implement the new National Education Policy, which will produce good students, businessmen and good citizens in the process of re-creation of India.

He said that the basic objective of education in the National Education Policy is to prepare people with good skills, technical knowledge, and expertise. There is immense potential for rapid benefits of New Education Policy and promotion of education in the state of Haryana, because the entire infrastructure related to education in Haryana is already strong.

Mr. Arya said that the basis of progress and future of any country is a strong education system. With this objective, the National Education Policy 2020 has been prepared after 34 years. This Education Policy is the cornerstone of India’s innovation. The aspirations of 130 crore people have been reflected in this education policy.

He said that for the first time in the country, 6 percent of GDP has been allocated for education in order to continuously intensify research, new innovations and employment-oriented programs, under National Education Policy. Naturally, there will be immense development of infrastructure related to education in the country in future, he added.

The Governor said that earlier there was a herd mentality regarding education where everyone wanted to make their children doctors, lawyers, and engineers, but now with the new National Education Policy new avenues will open up that will lead to development of the nation. The self-esteem of teachers has also been taken care of in the National Education Policy.  While on one hand, students have been linked to the world-class system, on the other hand, special provision of training etc. has also been made for teachers to enhance their skills.

Mr. Arya said that the new education policy will be completely job oriented. Even skill proficiency in higher education has been made mandatory. He congratulated all the Academicians who attended the four-day conclave.

Secretary to the Governor, Dr. G. Anupama, said that the education system will be strengthened by the new education policy. Various points will have to be worked out in the education policy, for its effective implementation.

Chairman, Haryana State Higher Education Council, Mr. B K Kuthiala, who chaired the Conclave, said that the New Education Policy was concurrent with the times and the nation. He also appealed to all the Academicians to implement this policy with full responsibility. The concluding programme of this digital conclave will be held at Raj Bhavan on August 21, 2020 in which the chancellors and academicians of all universities will participate.
