Haryana Governor, Mr. Bandaru Dattatreya said that the state of Haryana will extend all possible cooperation to Sri Lanka in the field of agriculture, dairy production and automobiles.

Chandigarh, September 13 –  Haryana Governor Shri Bandaru Dattatraya has assured that the state of Haryana will extend all possible cooperation to Sri Lanka in the field of agriculture, dairy production and automobiles, which will further strengthen the relations between India and Sri Lanka. The climate, traditions, culture and geographical location of India and Sri Lanka are similar to each other. Shri Dattatraya was talking to Sathasivam Vyalanderan, Minister of Backward Rural Areas Development & Promotion of Domestic Animal Husbandry Development and Minor Economic Agriculture, Crops Cultivation, Government of Sri Lanka at the Raj Bhavan here on Monday. Shri Vyalanderan, in a courtesy call with Governor Shri Dattatreya, discussed social, cultural, historical issues of Sri Lanka as well as the Government’s plans. Shri Atul Dwivedi, Secretary to the Governor, Shri Senthil Thondaman, Coordinating Secretary to the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, were also present on the occasion.

Governor Shri Bandaru Dattatraya assured all possible cooperation of Haryana to Sri Lanka. He said that Haryana is the leading state of the country in the field of agriculture, milk production and automobiles; so full cooperation would be extended to Sri Lanka from the state of Haryana to promote these sectors in Sri Lanka. The farmers of Haryana have set a record by using new techniques by securing the second position in the production of food grains in the country. During 2020-21, Haryana set a new record by producing more than 80 lakh metric wheat. Similarly, Haryana is the leading state in terms of per capita availability of milk.

Sri Lankan Minister Sathasivam Vyalanderan has expressed hope that the Haryana government would cooperate in promoting capital investment and agricultural development in Sri Lanka through capital investors, progressive farmers and pastoralists. All facilities related to land etc., should be made available by the Government of Sri Lanka.

He has expected special help from Haryana in promoting the breed of Murrah buffaloes, organic farming and milk production. He said that better facilities would be made available to the farmers related to large land leases for farming and farms for animal husbandry etc. In order to promote these areas, the Government of Sri Lanka has drawn up plans to utilize the surplus land in rural areas, which have been rapidly implemented.

Sh Sathasivam said that he appreciated the technology of organic fertilizers and hybrid seeds of Haryana and said that these techniques would be used to promote farming in Sri Lanka. He has also invited state universities, agricultural experts for this. He said that the Government of Sri Lanka is fully prepared to get the experts related to all subjects to visit Sri Lanka. This visit is expected soon. On this occasion, Governor Shri Dattatreya honoured Sri Lankan Minister Sathasivam Vyalendran by presenting the idol of Lord Krishna as a memento and a shawl. The Sri Lankan Minister also presented a memento containing the map of Sri Lanka to the Governor Shri Dattatraya.
