Haryana Irrigation and Water Resources Department, Additional Chief Secretary, Sh. Devender Singh said that the Atal Bhujal Yojana is a ground water management scheme supported by the Central Government and the World Bank and is being implemented by the Government of Haryana.

Its main purpose is to create hydrogeological data network of groundwater resources in Haryana and to build a community institution for the management of groundwater resources in the state. Sh. Singh was addressing a review meeting about the Atal Bhujal Yojana through video conference in the Mini Secretariat of Nuh district. Additional Chief Secretary said that under this Scheme 14 districts of Haryana will be covered, including a total of 1,669 Gram Panchayats with 36 geo-pressure blocks. In the beginning of the plan, the water security scheme of each village will be prepared and it will be implemented in the next 4 years.
While reviewing the Atal Bhujal Yojana the Additional Chief Secretary said that the said that under ‘Mera Paani – Meri Virasat Scheme’, the Haryana Government is giving an incentive of Rs 7,000 per hectare to the farmers who grow the alternative crop instead of paddy. Under this, the State Government has also ensured the Minimum Support Price of crops to promote crop diversification. He said that the government and the District Administration is committed to provide clean drinking water to the people and for this, efforts are being made constantly. On this occasion, MLA Nuh, Sh. Aftab Ahmad, Firozpur Jhirka Manka MLA, Sh. Maman Khan, MLA Punhana Mohammed Ilyas and Administrative Officer were present.
