(Parambans S Romana asserts all RS seats, including that being given to industrialist Rajinder Gupta, were being sold for Rs 100 crore each)

Senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Parambans Singh Romana today while condemning the sale of Rajya Sabha seats to billionaires for Rs 100 crore each by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), said Punjabis would hold AAP accountable for the sell out of their interests after another sixteen months.
Reacting to the “award” of a Rajya Sabha seat to industrialist Rajinder Gupta, the SAD leader said the only common link between Gupta and his predecessors who were nominated to the Rajya Sabha including Ashok Mittal, Sanjeev Arora and Vikramjit Singh Sahney was that they were all billionaires. “The sole purpose of nominating these persons to the Rajya Sabha is to fill the coffers of AAP. It is common knowledge that Rajya Sabha seats of Punjab are being sold for Rs 100 crore each”.
Asserting that it was not Rajya Sabha seats alone which were being sold but the voice of Punjab, Mr Parambans Romana said “these industrialists will do nothing for Punjab as they are easily cowed down by threats of the CBI, Income Tax and the Enforcement Directorate”. He said the functioning of the Rajya Sabha members was there for all to see. “These members did nothing to help farmers in distress during the recent floods”.
Speaking about the double standards of AAP, Mr Romana said before the AAP government was formed Mr Bhagwant Mann used to say that Bibi Paramjit Kaur Khalra, wife of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra who was killed in a fake police encounter, should be nominated to the Rajya Sabha. “However after the AAP government was formed Bibi Khalra as well as volunteers who had worked tirelessly for the party were forgotten and the Rajya Sabha seats were auctioned to the highest bidders”.
Asserting that Punjabis were seeing everything unfolding before their eyes, Mr Romana said “earlier the AAP government tried to acquire 65,000 acres of land for sale to it’s favourites besides deciding to sell off government properties. Now they want to collect money by selling off constitutional posts. Punjabis will hold them accountable for this open loot”, he added. EOM
