Badal Misleading the People; Not a Single Nomination Paper of Any Akali Dal Candidate Has Been Rejected: Talbir Singh Gill
Akali Dal Has No Candidates; Forced to Push SGPC Employees into the Election Fray: Gill
On the 14th, People Will Completely Reject Akali Dal’s Politics of Lies: Gill
Majitha, 11 December 2025
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Talbir Singh Gill launched a sharp counterattack on the Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal over his use of inappropriate language and baseless allegations. Challenging Badal and MLA Ganieve Kaur, Gill asked them to present evidence of who was intimidated in the Majitha constituency and in what manner.
Addressing the media during a press conference, Gill clarified that not a single nomination paper of any Akali Dal candidate, whether for the Zila Parishad or the Block Samiti, has been rejected. All nominations were filed peacefully. The truth, he said, is that the Akali Dal is unable to find candidates in Majitha. Sukhbir Badal must clarify whether his party even has candidates in several areas like the Chamunda Devi circle.
He alleged that the Akali Dal is suffering from internal discord, which has compelled them to field employees of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) in the elections.
Leveling serious allegations, Gill said that from the Dhadde zone, Akali Dal could not find any candidate, and therefore, an SGPC employee, Swaroop Singh, is being pushed to contest the election. Similarly, in the Poma zone, another SGPC employee is being forced to contest by threatening him with dismissal from his job. That employee is in touch with Gill and has informed him that “We are being heavily pressured. They have filed papers only as a formality.” Gill said that Sukhbir Singh Badal knows that their defeat is certain.
Responding sharply to Sukhbir Badal’s claim that he still roams around on a scooter, Gill said that the manner in which the Akali Dal looted Punjab from 2007 to 2017 is the reason that today they own farmhouses, Sukh Vilas, houses in Chandigarh with four–five lifts, and a large hotel in Gurugram. The public knows everything. By talking about a scooter, he cannot mislead the people of Punjab. On the 14th, the people of Majitha will completely reject Akali Dal’s politics of lies and intimidation.
