EC Chandan convenes meeting with medical officers to take stock of COVID-19 preparedness

KARGIL, MAY 06, 2021: In order to take stock of preparedness of the Health Department Kargil to deal with COVID-19 in the district, Executive Councilor for Health Muhammad Ali Chandan convened a meeting of the medical officers at Council Secretariat here today

Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Kargil Dr Munawar Hussain Wazir, District Immunization Officer (DIO) Kargil Dr Muhammad Abass, Medical Superintendent District Hospital Kargil Dr Fatima Nissa besides the  Block Medical Officers (BMOs) of Drass, Kargil, Sankoo, Taisuru, Shargole and Chiktan attended the meeting.

During the course of the meeting, the BMOs informed the Executive Councilor with regard to the present COVID-19 and vaccination status in their respective blocks and informed that 95% active cases presently in the district are non locals.

The District Immunization Officer Kargil informed that in the COVID-19 vaccination process which had started in the district on 18th January 2021, 1st dose of vaccine has been provided to 29347 persons till date and 2nd dose to 13516 persons with 2657 doses provided to the government employees.

In order to strengthen surveillance at village level strictly and effectively as per norms and guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, the BMOs requested the EC Health to provide supporting staff from Education Department.

The Executive Councilor appreciated the efforts being carried out by the Frontline Health Workers right from doctors to the sweepers, adding he expressed hope that their efforts will prove instrumental in containing the spread of COVID-19 virus in the district.
