Haryana’s Energy, Transport and Labour Minister, Sh. Anil Vij, has written an important letter to Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, requesting that November 25, 2025, the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Hind Ki Chadar, Ninth Guru, Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, be declared a Gazetted Holiday in the state.

Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s martyrdom— the highest example of sacrifice for humanity- Vij

In his letter, Sh. Vij stated that the martyrdom of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji is an invaluable inspiration for the entire humanity. Guru Sahib sacrificed his life for the protection of faith, human rights, and truth — which is why he is revered as Hind Ki Chadar. Sh.Vij said that Guru Sahib’s 350th martyrdom anniversary is commemorated across the country with immense devotion and grandeur.

Honouring the sentiments of millions of devotees is essential- Vij

He further said that on November 25, large congregations gather in gurdwaras, religious events are organized, and devotees earnestly come forward to pay homage to Guru Sahib’s teachings. In such circumstances, a “restricted holiday” is not sufficient, as lakhs of devotees and government employees wish to participate fully in these observances.
In his letter to the Chief Minister, Sh. Vij wrote:-“The 350th martyrdom anniversary of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji holds immense religious, historical, and social significance. Considering the sentiments of millions of devotees, November 25, 2025 should be declared a Gazetted Holiday.” Although the state government has already declared November 25 as a “restricted holiday,” Energy Minister emphasized that this particular 350th anniversary year carries special importance for devotees. Therefore, the day should be declared a full public (Gazetted) holiday.
