Chandigarh, August 29 2021 Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Sh. JP Dalal attended the closing ceremony of ‘Khelo Haryana’ competition in Gurgram today. After distributing awards to the winners, Sh. Dalal greeted the players on the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyanchand. On this ocassion he also announced Rs 2 lakh for the refreshments for the players.
While addressing those present, Sh. JP Dalal said that Major Dhyanchand belonged to a simple family and was an exceptionally good hockey player. Many times people used to check his hockey stick to ensure that there was no magnet in it. Alluding to the children present, he said that this was the age for children to study and play. He said that it was necessary that children’s participate in sports activities. He said that the state government is continuously trying to give the sportspersons all possible sports facilities and the state’s sports policy is considered the best in the country. He said that today Haryana sportspersons are performing well in every field. He told the sportspersons that whatever they do in life, they must do with passion. It is noteworthy that during the competition of archery, handball, swimming and kabaddi were organized in Gurugram district. In these competitions, 1679 players of 22 districts of the state participated. Archery and Handball Competition was held at Tau Devi Lal Stadium while Swimming Competition was organized at the Gymkhana Club in Sector 29 and Kabaddi competition at the local Nehru Stadium.
