Haryana has geared up State machinery for its implementation NEP: Governor

Chandigarh, March 5- Haryana Governor, Sh. Satyadeo Narain Arya while welcoming National Education Policy (NEP), 2020 said that the State Government has geared up State machinery for its implementation in the State. The State has decided to launch State Foundational Literacy and Numeracy Mission to start play schools for Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) and universalisation of Secondary Education to improve the quality of education.

            Satyadeo Narain Arya was delivering his address on the first day of Budget Session of Haryana Vidhan Sabha which commenced here today.

 

Super-100 Programme launched

            The Governor said that under the Super-100 Programme, outstanding results have been exhibited by both centres set up at Rewari and Panchkula for free coaching of NEET and JEE examination whereby 23 students have cleared JEE advance and 72 students have cracked the NEET. For the first time, students from Government schools of State have secured admission in IITs and other prestigious institutions.

 

136 Sanskriti Model Schools to be established at block levels

           

            Government Sanskriti Model Schools being run at district level which have shown excellent results would now be expanded and 136 such Schools would be established at block levels. The medium of education shall be both in Hindi as well as English and these schools would be affiliated to CBSE.

As many as 52 lakh students imparted education through EDUSAT during COVID

            Satyadeo Narain Arya said that during the COVID-19 Pandemic, Haryana became the first State in the country to provide Distance Education through EDUSAT to 52 Lakh students of Private and Government schools from class 1st  to 12th covering medical, non-medical, arts and commerce streams. To facilitate online education, State government has decided to provide free tablets to 8,06,000 students of all categories studying in class 8th to 12th in Government Schools.

            The Governor said that the Government distributed dry ration and milk powder during COVID-19 pandemic to children of classes 1st to 8th at their door steps while the cooking cost was transferred through direct benefit transfer (DBT) in their bank accounts.

            The Government also conducted a special campaign to check the drop out tendency among the children of migrant labour, due to COVID-19 pandemic. Accordingly, distribution of text books, mid-day meal and a special enrolment drive was undertaken and 2,03,000 new admissions were done in Government Schools during the academic year 2020-21, shared the Governor.

 

Higher Education

            Satyadeo Narain Arya said that with the initiation of the National Education Policy, there is a greater focus on access, quality, employability, research and multi-disciplinary approach in Higher Education. Keeping this in view, Haryana has 21 State Universities and 24 Private Universities in the field of General Education, Technical Education, Agriculture and Horticulture Education, Animal Husbandry, Skill Development, Medical, Ayush, Sanskrit, etc. covering nearly all the districts.

            A new project “e-Karma” has been started to train our students for self employment by way of providing portals where they can work on freelancing basis on various projects. The Government has also started a 24×7 helpline “Nai-Disha” for counseling of students wherein the students clear their doubts and gain in confidence vis-a-vis their personal issues and help them in taking forward their career, he said.

            Sh. Satyadeo Narain Arya shared that a Digital Library Portal has been initiated where e-books, e-journals, video lectures and other relevant material are available and any person can have an access to it. At the same time, all the 26 Public Libraries in the State are being completely digitized so as to increase their accessibility in the public.

            Fighting against all natural odds in the last one year, the department provided e-content of all the subjects of all the classes prepared by our own staff to all the students in online mode by efficiently using Learning Management System, added Sh. Arya.

 

Technical Education

            Sh. Satyadeo Narain Arya said that while taking  forward the Prime Minister’s Mission of “Atmanirbhar Bharat”, the Technical Education Department has taken the responsibility to educate and train various faculties, master trainers and even students in new emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Virtual and Augmented Reality, Big Data Analytics, Block-Chain Technology, Customer Data Platform, Internet of Things, Cyber Security Mesh, Total experience, Hybrid Cloud, Quantum & Edge Computing, Hybrid Automation, Intelligent Composable Business, 3D Printing, etc.   In this direction, an ‘ATAL Academy’ is being established at DCRUST, Murthal.

            These are keeping in tune with the emerging market demands and in synchronization with this, the State Government is in the process of setting up an “Institute of Emerging Technologies” in the State wherein, the State of Haryana would pioneer the research in these new emerging technologies by opening huge new vistas of hitherto unexplored domains and making available huge employment opportunities for the youth of the State. A lead in this direction has already been taken by increasing the capacity of diploma course in Medical Lab Technology which has been more than doubled from 480 to 990 in this year, shared the Governor.

            Satyadeo Narain Arya said that while fighting against all natural odds in the last one year, the admissions in various State Technical Institutions have been increased by 17 percent over previous years. He said that while, keeping in view the Government’s sensitivities towards the deprived sections of the society, a first of its kind in North India, “Mahagyani Rishi Ashtavakra Kendra” has been started in this year at Government Polytechnic, Sector 26, Panchkula, which is a three year diploma programme in Architectural and Computer Engineering, solely for the Hearing & Speech Impaired (Divyang) students. The Government plans to replicate this unique initiative at five other places in the State in the near future, he said.
