Haryana Power Minister, Sh. Ranjit Singh said that Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam has started the Surcharge Waiver Scheme for the convenience of the people of the state. Under this scheme, the consumer can take their new connection by depositing the entire principal amount of their outstanding bill in one lump sum or instalments. This scheme will be applicable till November 30, 2021.

Sh. Singh said that the first and second wave of the COVID-19 Pandemic has badly affected the lives of the people. In such a time, Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam has started this scheme to give concessions to its consumers. With this, consumers of domestic, agricultural, HT and LT (industrial and non-domestic) categories and consumers whose electricity connections were cut till June 30 due to non-payment of bills on time, will be able to get benefit from this.
The Nigam will waive off the entire surcharge of the outstanding bill on payment of the principal amount in a lump sum paid by such consumers.
The Power Minister said that the consumer can also take advantage of this scheme by depositing only 25 per cent of his original amount and the balance amount can be deposited in 6 instalments. With this, all surcharges till June 30, 2021, will be waived on deposit of the entire principal amount.
In rural areas, this scheme will apply only to the consumers of those villages in which the Mhara Gaon Jagmag Gaon Yojana is applicable or the Panchayats who have given consent for the implementation of the Mhara Gaon Jagmag Gaon Yojana through the proposal, the Minister informed.
Sh. Singh said that the consumers whose cases are pending in the court cannot take advantage of this scheme. The scheme can be availed only after such consumers will withdraw their cases. A sales circular has been issued by the Nigam in this regard, consumers can get information through the website of the Nigam.
