Chandigarh, September 23 – Haryana State Higher Education Council will organize a one-day seminar on September 25 to discuss and formulate plans on the subject of self-reliant Haryana. In the final session of the discussion the key points and action plan emerging from detailed discussions will be presented before the Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal and the seminar will end with the Chief Minister’s address.
Giving information in this regard, Chairman of the Council Prof. Brij Kishore Kuthiala informed that this seminar is being organized under the joint aegis of Haryana State Higher Education Council and ‘Swavlamban se Atmnirbhar’ Trust through digital platform.
Sharing more details he said that the programme will be carried out in three sessions and Vice-Chancellors and Principals of educational institutes of Haryana will participate in it other than academicians, scholars, representatives from industry and business from across the country. He informed that nine individuals and organizations who have achieved notable business earnings through innovative methods or have generated large number of jobs will be honoured at the seminar. In view of the present changing relations with China and prevailing conditions across the globe, a campaign is required to shift Indian society towards self-sufficiency through self-reliance, he added. Academicians have an important role in formulating a policy in this regard. This is the maiden attempt of the Council to choose the direction and analyse the conditions for self-reliant Haryana and the Higher Education Council will continue to discuss the implementation and evaluation of the plan for self-reliance.
The Council spokesperson said that the theme of the first session will be in the context of “Self-reliant India-Haryana” which will be presided over by renowned industrialist of the state, Mr. Pawan Jindal. Vice-Chancellor of Gautam Buddha University, Greater Noida will initiate the topic. In the first session, known thinker, writer and activist, Dr. Manmohan Singh, will make the foremost presentation. In the second session, internationally renowned scholar, Mr. Dattatreya Hosabale will be the keynote speaker in the context of the overall vision of self-reliant India. Last session will be centred on Haryana, in which discussions for making the state self sufficient through agriculture, industry, trade and education will be held.
He informed that Additional Chief Secretary, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department, Mr. Sanjeev Kaushal and Principal Secretary, Industries and Commerce Department, Mr. Apoorva Kumar Singh will give presentations concerning their Departments. Director General of Higher Education Mr. Ajit Balaji Joshi will give a presentation on ‘How Education can contribute to self-reliant Haryana’. Three entrepreneurs will be honoured by the Chief Minister in this session. The programme will be concluded by Mr. Kashmiri Lal wherein he will present his views on the subject ‘Swadeshi and self-reliance’, he said.
The spokesperson of the Council said that a chain of meetings will be held soon to formulate the conclusions drawn on the basis of the discussions in this seminar in which experts from Haryana will contribute and national and international scholars will participate in the discussions, if required.
