Ex-Servicemen of Army/CAPFs and ex-constables of disbanded HSISF/HAP battalion to get preference
Recently the State has initiated the process of recruiting 5000 constables through direct recruitment
Chandigarh, July 21– While taking a pivotal step towards further strengthening the police force and enabling it effectively contain the untoward incidents in the State, Haryana Government has deicide to recruit 2000 Special Police Officers (SPOs), while preference would be given to Ex-Servicemen of Army/CAPFs and ex-constables of disbanded HSISF/HAP battalion in the selection.
The State Cabinet which met under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal here today accorded approval to a proposal regarding the proposal for engaging 2000 SPOs across the State against vacant posts rank of Constable under provisions of section 21 of the Haryana Police Act, 2007.
The SPOs will be employed for a period of one year or upto the date of appointment of persons on regular basis, whichever is earlier.
The Selection of the SPOs will be made through interview by a Board consisting of the District Superintendent of Police as Chairperson, one Deputy Superintendent of Police of the concerned district (to be nominated by the concerned District Superintendent of Police) as members.
The SPOs will be eligible for Ex-gratia Compensation
The SPOs will be eligible for Ex-gratia compensation in case of death/disability/injury who is killed/disabled/injured in action while performing the duties of his office displaying bravery and extraordinary courage only.
While in the event of death an ex-gratia amount of Rs. 10 lakh will be given, in case of permanent disability the compensation will vary from Rs. 1 to Rs. 3 lakh and in case of grave Injury an amount upto Rs. 1 lakh will be given. However, in case of natural death the Ex-gratia amount of Rs. 3.00 Lakh shall be admissible to the family of deceased employees (SPOs) instead of Rs. 10.00 Lakh.
The minimum educational qualification would be 10+2
The minimum educational qualification for the recruitment would be 10+2 from recognized boards for all categories. Selected SPOs shall not be posted in their home Police Stations but care shall be taken, as far as possible, to post them in adjoining Police Stations near their place of residence. Those willing to be posted in other district may, however, be posted so. These SPOs shall, after their selection, undergo a 15 days capsule Course to reorient themselves to the needs of Police Department.
SC, BC candidates to get adequate representation
Adequate representation shall be given to members of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes as far as possible as per the policy of the State Government. Also, the engaged SPOs will have the same powers, privileges and immunities and be liable to the same duties and responsibilities and be subject to the same authorities as an ordinary police officer.
Further, a one-time uniform allowance of Rs. 3000 for two sets of uniforms, one pair of shoes and other necessary uniform articles like insignia of SPO and cap/lanyard etc will be given to SPOs at the time of their engagements.
11,664 posts of Constables are lying vacant
Presently, a total of 11,664 posts of Constables are lying vacant in the Police Department. Hence the recruitment of these SPOs will certainly play a pivotal role in strengthening the state police force.
Meanwhile, the Police Department has got permission for filling up 5000 posts of male constables (General Duty) by direct recruitment through Haryana Staff Selection Commission and the same is under process.
