Chandigarh, 6 August 2025

Haryana Transport Minister Sh. Anil Vij said that he has received reports that the allocation of routes for private buses has not been done properly. Instructions have been issued to relevant officers to study the schedules and timings of these buses.

Responding to a media question about private buses routes, Sh. Vij said that in many places, private buses depart just ahead of government buses, taking away passengers, leaving state buses empty. He said officials have been asked to investigate these cases and consider changes to the timings or the basis on which such routes were allocated.

He further said that the government has decided to ensure Haryana Roadways buses reach every village in the state. A letter has already been issued to all General Managers of the Transport Department for implementation. He clarified that Haryana Roadways is not a commercial entity but a service-oriented organization.

Regarding new bus purchases, Sh. Vij said that many older buses are being phased out and the procurement process for new buses, especially electric ones, is ongoing.
