PDP president Mehbooba Mufti’s outrageous claim that the BJP is making people in Kashmir stand for the National Anthem at “gunpoint” is a brazen lie, a provocation, and yet another chapter in her politics of appeasement.
It is shameful that a former Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir is stooping so low as to insult the very National Anthem that binds 140 crore Indians together. This statement is not just irresponsible—it is anti-national in character. By mocking the honour of Jana Gana Mana, Mehbooba Mufti has once again revealed her mindset that thrives on creating division, sowing unrest, and playing into separatist hands.
The BJP does not need guns to inspire patriotism. The people of Jammu & Kashmir stand proudly for the National Anthem because they love this nation, respect its martyrs, and honour the Constitution. It is Mehbooba Mufti who has historically thrived on politics of fear, appeasement, and soft-separatism, and today her frustration is making her attack the very symbols of national pride.
As BJP State Secretary, I strongly condemn this poisonous rhetoric. I want to remind Mehbooba Mufti:
No political desperation will be allowed to demean the Tiranga or the National Anthem.
The days when separatist propaganda could hold Kashmir hostage are over.
Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a new era of nationalism, unity, and peace is flourishing in J&K.
Mehbooba Mufti owes an unconditional apology to the people of India. Her words are not just an insult to the National Anthem but also a betrayal of the sacrifices made by our soldiers, security forces, and martyrs who laid down their lives defending the honour of this nation.
The BJP will continue to uphold the dignity of our national symbols with pride, and we will not allow anyone—least of all frustrated politicians like Mehbooba Mufti—to weaken the spirit of Bharat.
