Prison Radio launched in District Jail Panipat by Ranjit Singh

Chandigarh, January 16: New year has brought  joy for the inmates of Haryana Prisons. Prison Radio has been launched in District Jail, Panipat today by Jail Minister, Ranjit Singh.

Earlier in December, 2020, six inmates of Central Jail, Ambala, five inmates of District Jail Panipat and 10 inmates including five female inmates of District Jail Faridabad were provided Radio Jockey training   by Dr. Vartika Nanda, Founder of Tinka Tinka Foundation.

Speaking on the occasion, Ranjit Singh said that this initiative will help in converting Prisons into Correctional Homes.

Additional Chief Secretary, Home and Jails Department, Mr.  Rajeev Arora, said that jail radio is a unique initiative for positive engagement which will facilitate better communication among prison inmates and help in bringing out their positivity and creativity.

Director General of Police/ Prisons, Mr. K. Selvaraj said that new radio stations at Faridabad and Ambala jails will be launched shortly.

Dr. Vartika Nanda said that the jail radio which is a model of Tinka Tinka Prison reforms, will broadcast an hourly programme daily and will be based on jail activities. Superintendent Jail, Mr.  Devi Dayal was also present on this occasion.
