Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today welcomed senior retired bureaucrat KJS Cheema into the SAD and said the latter’s vast knowledge and field experience would be an asset for the party.
Addressing newsmen after inducting Mr KJS Cheema into the SAD, Mr Badal said the retired bureaucrat, who had his roots in Moonak, had an illustrious career to his credit having served as Special Principal Secretary to former Chief Minister S. Parkash Singh Badal for 10 years besides other administrative posts in Punjab, in addition to holding key positions including Secretary to Speaker Somnath Chatterjee and Additional principal secretary to West Bengal chief minister Mamta Bannerjee.
Welcoming Mr Cheema into the Akali fold, Mr Badal also thanked the former for choosing Punjab’s only regional party which had a 105 years old record of ‘sewa’ and sacrifice.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Cheema described the SAD president as the protector of the rights of Punjab and said he would do his best to support the President in this endeavour. A large number of supporters of Mr Cheema were also present on the occasion. EOM Jangveer Singh.
