Chandigarh, August 23 2021 Haryana Deputy Chief Minister, Sh. Dushyant Chautala informed that the amount of Rs. 250 being given to BPL families in the State in lieu of mustard oil will be sent to the eligible person per month. Even if a person is able to update his/her bank account in the PDS database with a delay, the entire amount will be transferred once the account is updated. Amount of Rs. 250 per family per month is being sent to BPL families through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) in their bank accounts instead of mustard oil from June 2021 onwards by Public Distribution System.
This decision has been taken by the State Government due to shortage of mustard oil with the state procurement agency HAFED.
While responding to a question raised in the Vidhan Sabha session today the Deputy Chief Minister, Sh. Dushyant Chautala said that till now the department has transferred an amount of about Rs. 12.21 Crore in the bank accounts of about 4.88 lakh families through DBT. Families who have not been given their bank accounts in the PDS database of the department or have given wrong information, then the amount cannot be transferred to their account. To overcome this problem, Department of Food, Supplies and Consumer Affairs in collaboration with NIC has created a portal named meraparivar.haryana.gov.in where beneficiaries can update their bank account numbers themselves. On completion of this work, the due amount of the eligible beneficiaries will be transferred.
Sh. Dushyant Chautala further informed that the process of transferring the amount of mustard oil through Aadhaar-enabled payment of Rs. 250 per family for the month of June has been started. The Food, Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department has received the list of about 2.20 lakh beneficiary families from the CRID Department on August 18, 2021 and an amount of Rs. 5.50 crore will be transferred to their accounts in the next two days.
He assured that whenever mustard oil is procured by HAFED, the eligible people will be given oil by the department.
Giving information about the mustard purchased by the Government during the last two years, he said that during the year 2019-20, a total of 6.15 lakh metric tonnes of mustard in the state at the rate of Rs. 4,200 per quintal and during the year 2020-21 in the State. In total 7.49 lakh metric tonnes of mustard have been purchased at the price of Rs. 4,425 per quintal.
Sh. Dushyant Chautala informed that this time a historic purchase of Bajra was done at MSP and BPL families were also provided Bajra at affordable prices.
