Deputy Chief Minister reviews arrangements for wheat procurement

Chandigarh, April 20  – Haryana Deputy Chief Minister, Sh. Dushyant Chautala directed the officers that there should be no shortage of gunny bags for the wheat procured from the farmers in the mandis of the state. There should be wide facilities in the market for farmers and labourers so that no one has to face any kind of inconvenience.

The Deputy Chief Minister was presiding over the review meeting regarding procurement and lifting of wheat being done by the government agencies. On this occasion senior officers of the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department and other concerned departments were also present.

Sh. Dushyant Chautala informed after the meeting that from April 1, 2022, procurement of wheat had started through various government agencies. Till April 19, 2022, about 35.87 lakh metric tonnes of wheat has been procured. Out of which 23.13 lakh metric tonnes of wheat have been lifted from the mandis and Rs. 3,686.09 crore has been paid to the farmers for their crops at Minimum Support Price. He added that he has directed the officers to ensure that there is no kind of delay in the procurement and lifting process of the wheat.
