Chandigarh, April 26: Haryana Chief Secretary, Vijai Vardhan has directed the Deputy Commissioners of all the districts of the state to identify and keep ready two or three marriage palaces, banquets or other big spaces in their respective districts in view of the increasing cases of COVID-19, so that they can be used in case of emergency. He directed the Deputy Commissioners to set up a ‘Quick-Response Team’, appoint a Nodal Officer over 5 to 6 small hospitals in their respective districts and send a report to the headquarters as soon as possible. He also directed to open grocery and drugstores as per the roster system, even after 6 o’clock in crowded areas.

The Chief Secretary was presiding over a meeting of the Crisis Coordination Committee here today. In the meeting, Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police of all the districts were connected through video conferencing as well.

Reviewing the availability of oxygen and formation of ‘Micro Containment Zone’ for COVID-19 patients in the state, the Chief Secretary directed the Deputy Commissioners to work seriously towards the formation of ‘Micro Containment Zones’. He directed that ‘Micro Containment Zones’ be barricaded and police staff also put on duty so that infection does not spread from the victim and people are not negligent.

He clarified the orders for the closure of shops in crowded areas after 6 pm, saying that the Deputy Commissioners can keep the grocery and medicines shops open under the roster system by taking a decision at their discretion. He also said that the Deputy Commissioners can appoint a nodal officer for the proper allocation of oxygen supply to small hospitals with the help of IMA in their respective areas. The Chief Secretary also directed to set up a ‘Quick-Response Team’ in all the districts so that oxygen and other necessary equipment can be made available at the time of emergency.

The Chief Secretary called upon the officers to take care of their health while helping the common man.

Additional Chief Secretary, Health Department, Rajiv Arora informed that the state has been allocated 162 MT of oxygen per day by the Central Government, the State Government is trying to reach more and more patients by distributing it properly. He directed the officers to take measures to convert oxygen used in industries of their area for medical use.

Financial Commissioner, Revenue & Disaster Management and Consolidation Department, Sanjeev Kaushal, Hospital Monitoring State Nodal Officer and Additional Chief Secretary, PK Das, Additional Chief Secretary, Medical Education and Research Department, Alok Nigam, Additional Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Dr. Amit Agrawal, Director General of Police, Manoj Yadava, Managing Director, HMSCL, Dr. Saket Kumar and other senior officers were present during the meeting.
