Viksit Bharat–G Ram G Act to ensure economic and social security for the working class: Dr. Arvind Sharma

Haryana laborers to get maximum benefit in the country; Annual gain of Rs.10,000

Viksit Bharat–G Ram G Act will become a strong tool to end corruption and prevent exploitation

Chandigarh, 9 January 2026

Haryana Cooperation, Jails, Elections, Heritage and Tourism Minister, Dr. Arvind Sharma, said that the Viksit Bharat–G Ram G act (VB–G Ram G), introduced by Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi, will ensure economic and social security for every hard working citizen of the country. He said that the flawed structure of MGNREGA was harmful to both workers and the nation, and the Viksit Bharat–G Ram G Act will emerge as an effective instrument to eliminate corruption and prevent the exploitation of workers.

Dr. Arvind Sharma was interacting with the media on Friday at the Public Works Department Rest House in Jind. BJP District President Sh.Tejinder and MLA Sh. Devender Chaturbhuj Attri were also present on the occasion.

The Cabinet Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi, the country is moving rapidly towards achieving the goal of Developed India by 2047. Continuous progress is being made in all sectors, including education, health, agriculture, cooperation, rural development, industry, science, and sports.

He said that a new framework for rural development has been prepared with the objective of providing employment to every poor person and enhancing their dignity. This framework is in line with Mahatma Gandhi’s vision and aims to realise the concept of Ram Rajya. He said that the Congress is spreading misinformation about the VB–G Ram G act to hide the shortcomings of MGNREGA, which had caused losses to workers as well as the nation.

The Cooperation Minister said that under MGNREGA, workers were provided employment for 100 days, whereas the Viksit Bharat–G Ram G act(VB–G Ram G) provides for 125 days of guaranteed employment. This will give workers in Haryana an additional annual benefit of approximately Rs. 10,000. The new law also includes provisions for unemployment allowance if work is not provided on time and additional compensation in case of delays in wage payments, he added.

He said that, as earlier, Gram Sabhas and Gram Panchayats will prepare development plans, including works related to water conservation, infrastructure development, livelihood-based activities, and disaster management. To strengthen rural development, essential infrastructure such as ponds, schools, hospitals, Anganwadi centres, and roads will be constructed under the VB–G Ram G. Skill centres and Haat Bazaar will also be established to increase the income of poor families and women associated with Self-Help Groups.

Dr. Sharma said that during the Rabi and Kharif seasons, farmers often face a shortage of labour during sowing and harvesting. Keeping this in mind, the new law empowers the state government to suspend work under the G Ram G Act for a maximum of 60 days during the farming season when there is a high demand for laborers. This will ensure the availability of workers for farming activities, while workers will get opportunities for employment for an additional 60 days over and above the guaranteed 125 days.

The Cooperation Minister said that under the G Ram G Act, workers across the country will receive an average benefit of Rs. 7,180, while eligible workers in Haryana will receive an additional annual benefit of Rs. 10,000, as Haryana provides the highest minimum wage in the country at Rs. 400 per day. The new law will protect workers and the nation from losses caused by loopholes in MGNREGA, such as fake workers, duplicate job cards, and fraudulent payments.

He said that biometric attendance will ensure payments are made only to eligible workers, providing a permanent solution to issues like fake payments and duplicate job cards. The Viksit Bharat–G Ram G Act supports genuine worker beneficiaries who were deprived during previous governments. With geo-tagging and satellite imagery of every project, registration of fake projects will no longer be possible.

He further said that while wages under MGNREGA were paid within 15 days, the G Ram G Act mandates weekly wage payments or payment within a maximum of 15 days after completion of work.
