“Women Safe, Goons Tamed”: Energy Minister Anil Vij Commends Ambala Cantt SHO for Action Against Eve-Teasing Accused

Chandigarh, 29 November 2025

Haryana’s Energy, Transport & Labour Minister Anil Vij has praised the strong action taken by the Ambala Cantonment Police in a recent case where a young girl was harassed while returning home from her coaching centre and her parents were later assaulted by the same miscreants.Speaking to the media persons during a programme today, Minister Vij patted SHO Surender of Ambala Cantt Police Station on the back and said that he deserves full appreciation for setting a strong example with his prompt and impactful action.

“Goondaism will not be tolerated in Ambala Cantonment,” Sh. Vij asserted that “Women and girls must feel completely safe to travel anywhere at any time — whether to their workplace or home. If anyone dares to engage in hooliganism here, our police will not spare them,” he said.

It is noteworthy that during a recent public grievance hearing, the victim girl and her family had submitted their complaint before Minister Vij, after which he directed Ambala Cantt Police to take strict action. Acting on these directions, the police on Friday apprehended five accused individuals, including one history-sheeter. Their heads were shaved as part of public disciplinary action and they were paraded through the local market streets, following which the police conducted a spot inspection at the incident location.
