Feroz Khan inaugurates new office building of KREDA
Kargil, December 12
Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan inaugurated the new office building of Kargil Renewable Energy Development Agency (KREDA) near Council Secretariat here today.
The single-storeyed structure is the first passive solar type Government building in Kargil which has been constructed at cost of Rs 40 lacs with locally available materials, like mud bricks, baked bricks with cavity walls and double glazed components.
Executive Councillor for Cooperatives Aga Syed Mujtaba Mosavi, Executive Councillor for Works Mubarak Shah Nagvi, Executive Councillor for Rural Development and Zanskar Affairs Er Phunsog Tashi , Executive Councillor for Health Muhammad Ali Chandan, Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Baseer ul Haq Choudhary, Project Director KREDA Kacho Ahmad Khan, district officers and the staff members of KREDA were present on the occasion.
CEC Khan while congratulating the Project Director and team of KREDA for having constructed this one of its kind building said that the structure is quite ideal for the cold climatic conditions of Ladakh keeping the winter conditions into consideration.
Terming the structural design of the building as an ideal prototype for construction of government buildings in the district in future, the CEC said that the LAHDC, Kargil will soon issue a circular directing the Government departments to design the structures on the passive solar model mode in consultation with KREDA which he stated will go a long way in cutting down the running cost incurred on the heating system besides also helping to reduce carbon emission.
CEC Khan stated that the authorities of CPWD have already been given instructions to structure the design of the 300 bedded hospital which is coming up in the district on the passive solar type pattern and to get it approved by the LAHDC Kargil after getting it duly vetted by KREDA.
The CEC further stated that in order to give impetus to the Renewable Energy sector in the district keeping in view its vast potential especially in terms of solar and hydel energy, for the first time a separate head has been created for KREDA in the Annual District Capex Budget and Rs 2 crores have also been released in favour of the agency to carry out various works.
A regards to the pending salaries of the employees of KREDA, the CEC said that the issue is genuine and has already been taken up with the UT Administration. He said that the UT Administration has assured LAHDC Kargil to clear the salaries of the employees for one time.
The CEC further said that a policy is also in the pipeline to make KREDA a sustainable agency and the execution of solar and hydel projects through the agency, revenue generation from the mini hydel projects by way of Power Purchase Agreement, levying of 15 % service charge for consultancy services to other departments and several other steps are being taken in this regard.
