Global Gita recitation to be conducted at International Gita Mahotsav
Chandigarh, December 10: At the International Gita Mahotsav -2020 in Haryana, as many as 55,000 school students will collectively recite 19 verses of the holy book Gita and create a unique world record. This Global Gita recitation will be conducted through online system at 12 noon on December 25, 2020. In this Global Gita recitation, 50 students each from 50 schools each from 21 districts and 9000 students from District Kurukshetra will be connected online simultaneously through social media, YouTube channel or any other means.
Giving information in this regard, an official spokesperson of the Education Department said that the department has been entrusted with the responsibility of linking all schools with this programme for this Global Gita recitation. Therefore, the Director, Secondary Education has written a letter to the Education Officers of all the Districts, District Project Coordinator, Block Education Officer and Heads of Schools asking them to prepare for the programme.
He said that the International Gita Mahotsav -2020 will be held from December 17 to December 25 this year. This time, according to the Guidelines for COVID-19, it has also been decided to conduct all school competitions online. One of the most engaging programmes of the Gita Mahotsava will be the collective recitation of the Shlokas of the Srimad Bhagavad Gita by school students at 12 noon on December 25.
He said that in the previous years, this event has been organized in Kurukshetra as Global Gita recitation takes place around the world and has also set unique records across the world. Despite the COVID-19 this year, the online Global Gita recitation by 55,000 students will create a unique record with the online system from their homes or schools in 21 districts. District Kurukshetra will provide a model recitation method to all the districts through YouTube channel or any other means so that this can be practiced in all the districts at the scheduled time.
He said that essay writing, Gita recitation, speeches, dialogues, painting competitions will also be organized by the Education Department through online system. These competitions will be held from December 11 to December 19 at the District-Level and from December 20 to December 21 at the State-Level. The rules and regulations of these competitions have been set and a District-level jury has also been formed. He said that more and more students should participate in the online system.
He said that in these online competitions, prizes will be given to students coming in first, second, and third place at the district and state level as well as consolation prizes will be given. Students bagging first place at the District-Level will be awarded Rs 2100, Rs 1500 to the second, Rs 1000 to the third and Rs 500 as a consolation prize in each category. He said that Rs. 5100 will be given to the student bagging the first place in State-Level competition, Rs. 3100 to the second, Rs. 2100 to the third and Rs. 1000 as a consolation prize in each category.
