Chandigarh, August 18:

Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal, while blessing the lads of Nahari and Kurad Villages, reiterated State Government’s commitment  of keeping farmers interest as utmost priority  by announcing new development  gifts worth crores for  both the villages. He said that in some areas  efforts are being made to mislead the farmers by saying that their  land will be sold.

The Chief Minister said that both the Centre and State Governments can’t think of harming the farmers.

The Chief Minister said this, while attending the felicitation ceremony as the Chief Guest, organized to honour  the Olympic medalists of Nahari and Kurad today.
While blessing the players Ravi Dahiya and Sumit, who brought Haryana’s name  at the international stage, announced new  developmental projects so as to give direction to the development of both the villages.

During the function,  Ravi Dahiya, who hails from Nahari village and Sumit, hailing from Kurad village submitted demand letters to the Chief Minister on behalf of their villages, in response to which the Chief Minister approved all the  demands on the spot.

The Cheif Minister even approved some of the demands received by the Gram Panchayat.

The Chief Minister first reached Nahari village where the villagers gave him a warm and grand welcome.  Referring to the history of Nahari, Sh. Manohar Lal said that it is a village of revolutionaries and not just sportsmen.  In the World War, 229 soldiers of the village took part, out of which 31 soldiers had attained martyrdom.

Khushal Singh Dahiya of Nahari had his head beheaded in honour of Sikh Guru Tegh Bahadur, whose memorial is in Badkhalsa.  There is no match for Nahari in education too as there are 38 MBBS doctors  from here. The village has created history.

Saluting the struggle of Ravi’s grandfather Sheochand and father Rakesh Dahiya, Chief Minister said that after Ravi’s victory, the village panchayats met him late at night and made some demands, that included making arrangements for  rain water harvesting and starting bus service.   Both these demands were fulfilled with immediate effect.

The Chief Minister said that Haryana would be made a sports hub.  For the first time in the Olympics, India has secured seven medals and 48th place, the credit of which goes to Haryana.  The youth of the state will be given more encouragement in sports.

The Chief Minister gave the slogan of Jai Jawan-Jai Kisan-Jai Pehalwan-Jai Vigyan.  He also told that he himself is a farmer.  Therefore,  the State Government truly understands  the problems of the farmers very well.

The Central Government procures wheat and paddy, while at present Haryana government is procuring 11 crops .  Bhavantar Bharpayee Yojana has been implemented to compensate farmers for the loss of vegetables, shared the Chief Minister.
