Haryana Government decided to take all necessary steps in view of ‘Delhi Chalo’ call given by farmer organizations regarding Farmers’ Welfare Ordinances

Haryana Government has decided to take all necessary steps as precautionary measures in view of the situation during the proposed nationwide ‘Delhi Chalo’ (March to Delhi) call given by farmer organizations on November 26, 2020 regarding Farmers’ Welfare Ordinances.
Haryana Chief Secretary Vijai Vardhan presided over a review meeting with Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police of districts namely Ambala, Sirsa, Fatehabad, Jind, Kaithal, Kurukshetra and Panchkula regarding maintaining law and order during a proposed nationwide ‘Delhi Chalo’ (March to Delhi) call by farmers’ organizations.
Additional Chief Secretary, Financial Commissioner, Revenue & Disaster Management, Sanjeev Kaushal, Additional Chief Secretary, Medical Education and Research Department, Alok Nigam were also present in the meeting through video conferencing.
The Chief Secretary directed the officers that the Police Department will have to ensure all necessary steps to maintain law and order and make appropriate arrangement for disseminating information in proper manner to prevent any mishappening. Similarly, adequate arrangements for drinking water, medical assistance, electricity supply, tents and other basic facilities will have to be made.
Vijai Vardhan directed the Police Department to establish Control Rooms to coordinate with the District Administration. While coordinating with Divisional Commissioners and Range Inspectors General, the Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police were directed to disseminate minute to minute information to Home Secretary, Director General of Police and Chief Secretary Office, he asserted.
He said that more farmers from Punjab are expected to travel towards Delhi. In such a situation special monitoring should be conducted on Shambhu Border. Apart from this, additional police forces should be deployed in Gharaunda, Mundhal where huge farmer gatherings are expected. He also directed to set up multi-layer barricading on highways leading to Haryana.
The Chief Secretary said that police patrolling will have to be increased on the five National Highways across the state connecting Delhi so as to maintain supplies of essential commodities without any obstruction. In the eventuality of protesters succeeding in blocking roads, traffic should be directed to alternative roads thus minimizing inconvenience to commuters, he added.
The Chief Secretary said that all police officers should remain present in the districts. Executive magistrates should be deployed in the areas where farmers gather. He directed that ambulances, doctors and paramedical staff should also be deployed on the highways along with the police force. He said that doctors and paramedical staff should be stationed at health centres of the districts so that their help can be taken in case of emergency. The Chief Secretary said that videography of farmer groups gathered at any place should also be done.
In the meeting, Vijai Vardhan directed the officials of Information, Public Relations and Languages Department to make the public aware through various publicity and information dissemination medium to remain alert and safe during nationwide ‘Delhi Chalo’ call by farmers’.
He urged the common man to avoid travelling on the November 25 and 26, 2020 so that they do not have to face any inconvenience.
Among those present in the meeting included, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, V. Umashankar, Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department, Rajeev Arora, Additional Chief Secretary, Information, Public Relations and Languages Department, Dheera Khandelwal, Director General of Police, Manoj Yadav and Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order), Navdeep Singh Virk and other senior officers.
