Haryana Government is continuously strengthening sports infrastructure in the state to promote sports activities – Sh. Gaurav Gautam

Haryana Minister of State for Sports, Sh. Gaurav Gautam, said that the Haryana Government is continuously strengthening sports infrastructure in the state to promote sports activities. At present, the state has 3 state-level sports complexes, 21 district-level stadiums, 25 sub-divisional stadiums, 163 Rajiv Gandhi Rural Sports Complexes, 245 mini/rural stadiums, 10 swimming pools, 9 multipurpose halls, 11 synthetic athletics tracks, 14 hockey astroturfs, and 2 synthetic football surfaces.

The Sports Minister was responding to a question raised by a member during the Budget Session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha here today.

He said that in district Kurukshetra, one Dronacharya district-level stadium and two sub-divisional sports stadiums at Shahabad and in village Dhanora Jattan are functional. Besides this, Rajiv Gandhi Sports Stadiums have been constructed in villages Amin, Sudhpur, Bir Kalwa, Bakhli and Khera. Similarly, mini rural stadiums are functional in villages Beholi, Bodla, Chamu kalan, Chander Bhanpur, Gudha, Khanpur Rodan, Bakhli and Umri.

The Minister further said that two residential academies and 59 sports nurseries are being run in district Kurukshetra. A total of 33 coaches and junior coaches are providing training to players in various sports disciplines in the district.

He added that district-level stadiums are constructed on 10 acres or more of land, while sub-divisional stadiums are built on 6.5 acres or more.
