A Migrant Welfare Committee, Belicharana today called upon Sat Sharma, President J&K BJP, at the party headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, to highlight their long-pending issues related to ration cards, rehabilitation, and welfare facilities.

J&K BJP General Secretaries Sanjita Dogra and Gopal Mahajan were also present during the interaction.

The deputation, led by Dalair Singh and accompanied by Koushal Sharma, Anil Kumar, Pyar Singh, Pinku Manhas, Sunil Kumar, Rajinder Sharma and others, apprised the BJP leadership that for the past three decades, their community has been facing hardships due to non-inclusion of daughters-in-law and new-born children in ration cards. They pointed out that during bifurcation or issuance of new ration cards, the Revenue, Relief, and Rehabilitation Department has consistently excluded female members and their children, causing immense distress to the families.

They also highlighted that around 228 families have been left out from the benefits extended to other migrant communities. Further, they raised demands for inclusion of daughters-in-law and new-borns in ration cards, bifurcation of cards as assessed by the Relief Commissioner (M) Jammu, one government job per family on the pattern of the Kashmiri migrants under the PM Package, permanent rehabilitation, regularization of land at Migrant Camp Belicharana, and provision of government quarters to those living in rented accommodation, as has been done for Kashmiri migrants.

Sharma assured the deputation that the party stands firmly with them in their struggle for rightful entitlements and permanent rehabilitation. He emphasized that BJP has always worked for the welfare of displaced communities and will continue to fight for their dignity and due rights. Listening patiently to the deputation, Sat Sharma expressed concern over the long-standing grievances of the community and assured them of BJP’s full support. He stated that the issues highlighted by the Zila Doda Migrant Welfare Committee deserve due consideration. The BJP has always stood with displaced families, and we will continue to make every effort to ensure your rightful entitlements are addressed, he added.
