The AIPNA-ICP-2026 International Pathology Conference began today at Government Medical College Amritsar. The three-day International Pathology Conference was inaugurated by the state’s Health & Family Welfare, Medical Education and Research Minister Dr. Balbir Singh. Leading pathologists, medical educators, researchers and healthcare professionals from all over the world are participating in this conference. Organized under the aegis of the Association of Indian Pathologists in North America (AIPNA) and the Indian College of Pathologists (ICP), this conference will prove to be a significant milestone in promoting international collaboration in the field of pathology.

Inaugurating the three-day International Pathology Conference, Health and Family Welfare, Medical Education and Research Minister Dr. Balbir Singh said that this conference being held on the holy City of Amritsar will make a significant contribution in implementing new research and techniques in the field of pathology. He said that the objective of the conference is to provide a dynamic platform for sharing cutting-edge research, innovative diagnostic techniques and transformative educational practices. He said that the knowledge that pathology experts are sharing among themselves by participating in this conference will greatly benefit the medical field. During this, he also spoke about the rich heritage of Government Medical Amritsar and the importance of pathology in the field of medicine.

On this occasion, Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh also shared information about the revolutionary initiatives taken by the Punjab government in the health sector. He said that along with major improvements in the infrastructure of government health institutions in the state, high-tech treatment equipment has been provided. Apart from this, specialist doctors are being recruited. He said that quality and free health services are being provided to the people of the state near their homes through Aam Aadmi Clinics. He said that the Punjab government has launched the Chief Minister’s Health Scheme to provide free treatment facility of Rs 10 lakh per year to every family in the state.

In the inaugural session of the conference, Dr. Avnish Kumar, Director Medical Education and Research Punjab said that this conference not only celebrates scientific excellence but also reflects the spirit of Amritsar. He said that in Amritsar, a city known for its rich heritage, hospitality and cultural vibrancy, delegates will get an opportunity to experience a unique blend of tradition and modernity.

During the conference, Dr. Rupinder Bakshi Joint Director Medical Education and Research Punjab, Dr. Colonel Mishra, Dr. Ritambara, Dr. Parmeet Bagga, Dr. K.D. Singh, Dr. Karamjit Singh, Dr. J.P. Attari, Dr. Vijay Bodal, Dr. Gill and Dr. Jaspreet Singh also participated and shared their valuable views. Dr. Vinay Kumar, who was a part of Government Medical College Amritsar, joined the conference virtually from Chicago and shared information about his research in the field of pathology.

During this, Dr. Avnish Kumar emphasized on the introduction of new technologies in the era of AI. The conference featured speakers including eminent experts from the US, whose participation highlights the power of global partnerships in advancing medical science.

Head of the Department of Pathology, Professor Dr. Parmeet Kaur Bagga, welcomed the delegates with an inspiring address, emphasizing the role of pathology as the foundation of medicine and highlighting the importance of integrating real-world clinical examples with modern teaching methods.

The three-day conference will feature plenary lectures, interactive workshops, poster presentations and panel discussions, covering topics as diverse as molecular pathology, hematology, oncopathology, and advances in laboratory medicine. Special sessions will focus on medical education, visual communication in pathology, and integration of technology in diagnostic practice.
