Bahadur Singh doubles income by reducing agricultural cost with government aid
Bahadur Singh Lodhi, a resident of Tikriya Amkharia village of Damoh district, while thanking the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister says that today agriculture has become a profitable business due to their schemes. With organic farming, the cost of fertilizers, pesticides, etc. is almost zero and income has doubled.
Bahadur Singh says that ever since he started farming under the guidance of Agriculture Department and Krishi Vigyan Kendra, he has started realizing his dreams. With the profits gained from the garden, I have bought a scooter for myself, jewelry for my wife, LCD, as well as got my daughter married. I didn’t have to take any loan from anyone. He urged the farmers to take advantage of government schemes and improve their standard of living.
Bahadur Singh says four years ago he used to use 5 bags of DAP and 3 bags of urea. Along with the cost, it also had an adverse effect on the fertility of the land. In organic farming, I had left earthworms in the dung manure during the rainy days, which has now turned into the best manure. This zero-budget fertilizer is yielding excellent quality crop. The earthworm manure prepared in about 2 months result in production for 3 years. I have There are 2 bullocks, 2 buffaloes and 2 cows in the field and at home, I am using the dung and urine obtained from them to make organic fertilizers and organic pesticides.
Bahadur Singh told that under the employment guarantee scheme, he had planted a fruit orchard in the field in the year 2017. In a case of Rs two lakh, he got money for 3 years. In one acre orchard, he has grown about 100 lemons, 50 pomegranates, 25 mangoes, 5 apple plum trees, Allahabadi guava, chikoo, orange, mosambi etc.
Bahadur Singh has sold pomegranate worth Rs 35 thousand and lemon worth Rs 40 thousand this year. He has sold lemon juice at the rate of Rs 125 and peel at the rate of Rs 20 per kg to Krishi Vigyan Kendra. Apart from this, he is also selling lemon pickle to the center at the rate of Rs.200/kg. He is generating extra income by planting ginger, turmeric, coriander etc. in the vacant space in his garden.
Rural Agriculture Extension Officer Shri N.L. Ahirwar told that the farmers here are being benefitted by following the zero budget farming of the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister. Farmers are growing crop gardens on one side and gram, wheat on the other. Earlier farmers used to use medicines and chemical fertilizers at Rs 8-10 thousand per acre. This cost is now zero. Due to the use of organic pesticides and fertilizers, the crops do not have any insects, diseases etc.
