By\u00a0making payment worth Rs. 162.09 crore to farmers against their procured foodgrains in Mandis, Jalandhar\u00a0<\/a>has emerged as a leading district in the state in the ongoing paddy procurement season.<\/p>\n

Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that as many as 78057 Metric Tons (MTs) produce has been\u00a0lifted\u00a0by the procurement agencies at 75 purchase centers in the district. He said that not only purchase and\u00a0lifting, the administration has also laid the thrust on payments as a whopping amount of Rs. 162.09 crore was paid to the farmers to date, which has placed\u00a0Jalandhar\u00a0a\u00a0top-performing district in procurement.<\/p>\n

The DC further said that to ensure the purchasing and\u00a0lifting\u00a0of every single food grain of the farmers, all the concerned departments have been working in tandem to achieve this goal. He also added that elaborate arrangements were made at all 78 purchase centers so that farmers don\u2019t face any kind of trouble while selling their crops in the Mandis.<\/p>\n

Pointing out further, District Food and Civil Supplies Controller Harsharan Singh stated that since day one special focus was being laid on timely purchase, lifting and payment which has yielded promising results by putting Jalandhar on top ranking in the procurement season. He stated that the sufficient amount of Bardana was made available in the grain markets to ensure prompt\u00a0lifting\u00a0of the crops adding that the administration has left no stone unturned to make this procurement smooth and hassle-free manner.<\/p>\n
