ASKS POLICE DEPARTMENT TO PREPARE LISTS OF BAD CHARACTERS, WEAPON HOLDERS AND STATUS OF FIRs\u00a0\u00a0 REGISTERED IN PREVIOUS ELECTIONS<\/span><\/h5>\n

For ensuring free and fair polling during ensuing Assembly elections, Deputy Commissioner- cum- District Election Officer Varinder Kumar Sharma has asked the officials to pull up their socks and complete the process of vulnerability mapping well in advance before the imposition of model code of conduct.<\/p>\n

Presiding over a meeting with Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) and police officials, Sharma told the officials to give top priority to the preparation of vulnerability mapping and directed them to send the report after the field visits and identifying vulnerable polling booths.<\/p>\n

He asked the police department to prepare the lists of bad characters after holding the meetings with local Assistant Commissioners of Police\/Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) and Station House Officers (SHOs). Besides the reports about parole jumpers, history-sheeters, bail jumpers, trouble mongers and others must also be prepared so that close vigil can be kept on their activities.\u00a0Further, details about arms\/weapons which would be deposited before elections, expenditure sensitive constituencies and others must be prepared.<\/p>\n

He said that status of pendency\u00a0 of FIRs registered during the previous Assembly Elections 2017 and Lok Sabha Elections 2019.<\/p>\n

Sharma also told the police department to update the lists of the weapon holders in advance so that they can be immediately ordered to submit the weapons once the code comes into force.<\/p>\n

The Deputy Commissioner- cum- District Election Officer also ordered the officials to form the joint teams of various departments to keep a check in their areas during the elections.<\/p>\n

Sharma told the AROs to send the lists of counting centres so that entire information must be forwarded to the Election Commission.<\/p>\n

Moreover, he asked them to ensure their presence in the polling booths during special camps being organized on November 20 and 21 so that maximum youths can enrol themselves as new voters.<\/p>\n
