District level training program for doctors and CHOs under ‘SAANS’ program held<\/strong><\/div>\n

SAS Nagar , November 12 :\u00a0<\/strong> A district-level one-day training program regarding the diagnosis and treatment of pneumonia in children was conducted at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Institute of Medical sciences under the guidance of Civil Surgeon Dr.Adarshpal Kaur and Principal of the Medical College Dr Bhavneet Kaur. The workshop was attended by doctors, community health officials (CHOs) and ANMs.<\/div>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Addressing the gathering, Dr. Adarshpal Kaur said that during this month, a campaign called ‘Social Awareness and Action to Neutralize Pneumonia Successfully’ called ‘SAANS’ is going on across the state for the prevention of pneumonia. She said that the aim of this campaign is to prevent the spread of a deadly disease like pneumonia in children and to ensure timely detection, diagnosis and treatment of the disease. She hoped that by adopting this program, the mortality rate of children up to five years in the district would be reduced.<\/div>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Dr Bhavneet Kaur said this program could be very effective in reducing the number of deaths due to pneumonia in children. Apart from breastfeeding and providing complete nutritious food to the children, the infant mortality rate could be reduced by providing vitamin A solution as well as complete immunization. She said that after the training, the health care workers would ensure to sensitize the local community to prevent pneumonia in children.<\/div>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 District Immunization Officer Dr. Girish Dogra, Assistant Professor Amarpreet Kaur, District Mass Media Officer Gurdeep Kaur etc. were also present in the workshop.<\/div>\n
