To encourage participation of the female in the entire polling process, the Ludhiana district has set up 14 \u2018Pink Polling\u00a0Booths\u2019 in the district.<\/p>\n

District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma said that that these 14 polling\u00a0booths have been set up in all 14 Vidhan Sabha constituencies (one in each constituency) and would be exclusively managed by only\u00a0women\u00a0teams during polls on Sunday. He said that the entire staff in such polling\u00a0booths, including the polling staff, police and security personnel, would be\u00a0women.<\/p>\n

He said that the polling\u00a0booths\u00a0would be distinguished by its pink design, including pink walls and table covers.<\/p>\n

Envisioning this instrumental step, he said the move would help to break the gender stereotypes that\u00a0women\u00a0employees are usually reluctant in doing election duties whereas the\u00a0women\u00a0are excelling in every area of the society through their hard work and dedication.<\/p>\n

The Deputy Commissioner said that this is a leap further towards\u00a0women\u00a0empowerment and gender equality. Upon his visit to Government Senior Secondary Smart School in Punjab Agricultural University here today, the DC also interacted with 4 women namely Anita Deora, Jasvir Kaur, Rajni and Payal who themselves volunteered to form an all women polling station in Dakha constituency.<\/p>\n

The District Administration has also set up 14 Persons With Disability (PwD) polling booths, along with 178 Model Polling Booths in the district.<\/p>\n
