The third edition of the Ladakh Ice-Climbing festival concludes today in Gangles. The Chairman\/CEC, LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson was the chief guest on the occasion. DYSSO Leh Tsering Tashi was the guest of honor and founder of SECMOL, Sonam Wangchuk was the special guest. Other guests present during the occasion were President ALGHA, President ALTOA, President Leh Phu-Dho, etc.<\/p>\n

President LMGA in his welcome speech highlighted the motive behind conducting such adventure sports and spoke on the contribution of LMGA in creating the Ice-Climbing festival and it will also create opportunities in the future career-wise. He also spoke on the requirement of travel insurance for mountaineering and hiking expeditions. He said that the idea brings forth the aim to promote winter tourism in Ladakh and the need for nurturing more young talents from Ladakh in winter adventure sports.<\/p>\n

Addressing the gathering, CEC Gyalson praised the entire organising team for the initiative in creating this artificial glacier, promoting and encouraging the youth of Leh to participate in such winter adventure sports. He highlighted the importance of artificial glaciers for the sustainability of Ladakh\u2019s fragile ecosystem and added that this sport has the potential to boost winter tourism in Ladakh. He also informed that LAHDC Leh would extend all possible support in the promotion of winter sport throughout the region. He added that the duration of the sports needs to be extended and it also has the potential for more career opportunities for the enthusiasts.
