It will affect the nature of unipolar world which at present is marked by US hegemony\u201d argued experts participating in one-day seminar on \u201cUkraine Crisis, Emerging World Order &amp; Implications for India\u201d organized by Department of Defence and National Security Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh today that is 28th April, 2022.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dr Jaskaran Singh Waraich, Chairperson of the department, welcomed the guests present for the event and also highlighted the significance of the theme, while also giving the details of the objectives and the programme of the seminar. While inaugurating the seminar Vice Chancellor Professor Raj Kumar emphasized on the changing nature of geo-political scenario of the world in the context of the ongoing Ukraine-Russia conflict. He also highlighted the issues concerning India\u2019s foreign policy in this context. The inaugural speaker Admiral Sunil Lanba (retd.) former chief of Indian Navy, also, highlighted the historical perspective of the ongoing conflict and geopolitical trends. In his keynote address Lt\u00a0Gen\u00a0Raj\u00a0Shukla\u00a0(retd.) delved on the major implications of Ukraine-Russia\u00a0conflict and the change which may result in the aftermath of war.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the first technical session, Dr Meena Singh Roy, former senior researcher with IDSA discussed the genesis of\u00a0the Ukrainian Crises. She highlighted the historical\u00a0seeds of discontent and power balance emerging out of various alliances. Maj Gen Amarjit Singh (retd.) pointed out the trends unfolding in\u00a0various parts of the world specifically in West Asia and their linkages with India.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Professsor Kuldip Singh from GNDU examined the way global order has undergone a change since 9\/11. He argued that India should exercise its strategic autonomy to utilize changes unleashed by war to its advantages. His argument was that India should take a lead to reorient global order away from West-Centric system, reactivating forums like BRICS and refashioning Bretton Woods institutions designed by the West for which global situation favoured India.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Maj. Gen. Raj Mehta (Retd.), Professor Sanjay Kumar Pandey form JNU and Lt\u00a0Gen R\u00a0S\u00a0Panwar (Retd.)\u00a0elaborated\u00a0upon\u00a0the\u00a0Interests\u00a0of\u00a0various\u00a0world\u00a0actors and\u00a0their\u00a0likely\u00a0intentions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The technical\u00a0session\u00a0on the theme \u2018contours of technology, military strategy and operations of war\u2019 was chaired by\u00a0Lt\u00a0Gen\u00a0KJ\u00a0Singh (Retd) and co-chaired by Simrit Kahlon. In this session Dr.\u00a0Shalini\u00a0Chawla\u00a0from\u00a0Center\u00a0for\u00a0Air\u00a0Power\u00a0Studies,\u00a0Lt\u00a0Gen\u00a0P R Shankar (retd) highlighted the lessons for India and emerging world\u00a0order and balance of power. Employment of various weapons systems disruptive technologies in the ongoing\u00a0conflict\u00a0was\u00a0also\u00a0elucidated\u00a0for\u00a0the\u00a0benefit of\u00a0attendees\u00a0and\u00a0students.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the valedictory session, Lt Gen Bhopinder Singh, former Lieutenant Governor of Andaman and\u00a0Nicobar Islands &amp; Puducherry was key speaker.
