He also had Type 2 Diabetes, high cholesterol, fatty liver, snoring problem, severe back pain and restricted mobility due to polio. This invariably put\u00a0<b>the Patient<\/b>\u00a0at a high risk of developing potentially life-threatening problems such as heart disease and stroke. All efforts by the\u00a0<b>Patient<\/b>\u00a0to lose weight through exercise had not borne any results and he was facing multiple health problems due to his health condition.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"entry-title\"><span style=\"color: #993300\"><a style=\"color: #993300\" href=\"https:\/\/newsmakhani.com\/haryana-governments-big-push-to-strengthen-healthcare-infrastructure-in-the-state\/\" rel=\"bookmark\">READ MORE :-Haryana Government\u2019s big push to strengthen healthcare infrastructure in the state<\/a><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><b><span lang=\"EN-US\">The Patient<\/span><\/b><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0approached\u00a0<b>Dr Amit Garg, Bariatric and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeon, Fortis Hospital Mohali<\/b>, in July, 2019.\u00a0 Post examination,<b>\u00a0Dr Garg<\/b>\u00a0suggested that\u00a0<b>Bariatric Surgery<\/b>\u00a0or Metabolic Surgery was an ideal treatment option for the\u00a0<b>Patient.\u00a0<\/b><\/span><b><span lang=\"EN-US\">Bariatric Surgery<\/span><\/b><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0is done laparoscopically and\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">assists in weight loss by making changes to an individual\u2019s digestive system. It is the only scientifically proven method to treat morbid obesity and patients with associated Type 2 Diabetes, hypertension, sleep apnea, infertility etc. and allows\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">patients to resume normal work within a few days of the surgery.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span lang=\"EN-US\">Dr Garg\u00a0<\/span><\/b><span lang=\"EN-US\">conducted bariatric surgery on the\u00a0<b>Patient<\/b>\u00a0in 2019. Post-surgery, the\u00a0<b>Patient\u2019s\u00a0<\/b>weight reduced from<b>\u00a0106 Kgs to 63 Kgs\u00a0<\/b>and his health problems such as Type 2 diabetes, cholesterol level and fatty liver were resolved. \u00a0\u201c<i>Today, the\u00a0<b>Patient<\/b><\/i><b>\u00a0<\/b><i>is able to walk 3-4 kms without fatigue and able to do all routine activities with ease,\u201d added\u00a0<\/i><b>Dr Garg.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span lang=\"EN-US\">Another Patient, 45-year-old Daljit Kaur from Karnal,<\/span><\/b><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0weighed\u00a0<b>120 Kgs<\/b>\u00a0and exhibited symptoms such as hypertension, knee pain, back pain and restricted mobility. She approached\u00a0<b>Dr Garg<\/b>\u00a0at\u00a0<b>Fortis Mohali<\/b>\u00a0in March, 2020, and subsequently underwent\u00a0<b>Bariatric Surgery.\u00a0<\/b>Post-surgery, the\u00a0<b>Patient\u2019s<\/b>\u00a0health problems were resolved as\u00a0<b>she had lost 53 Kgs<\/b>\u00a0and weighs 67 Kg today.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Discussing the benefits of Bariatric Surgery,\u00a0<b>Dr Garg<\/b>, said, \u201c<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">Bariatric Surgery is a boon for treating <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">obesity which has become the second preventable cause of death after smoking.
