KARGIL, JULY 07, 2022 :- <\/strong>Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan today visited flood-affected areas of Sankoo.<\/div>\n

Executive Councilor for Tourism, RD and Zanskar Affairs, LAHDC, Kargil Er Punchok Tashi, Councilors of Sankoo and Thasgam Constituencies in LAHDC Kargil, Aga Syed Ahmed Rizvi and Abdul Rahim, SDM Sankoo, Executive Engineers of Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC), Public Health Engineering (PHE), Rural Engineering Wing (REW), besides other concerned officers, PRI members of flood-affected areas accompanied the CEC during the visit.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
At Sankoo, the CEC visited the flood-affected Bata Khar and Spang Thang. The PRI members and village representatives informed that due to heavy flash flood debris has accumulated causing damage of Irrigation kuls, trees and land.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
CEC Khan said that temporary measures will be taken to clear the debris and clean the canal. He, however, added that a long-term project needs to be drafted under SDP for the Canal Tranning of the canal for which all efforts will be taken from LAHDC. In this regard, he directed the concerned officer of I&FC to draft a DPR at the earliest.<\/div>\n

Khan said that damaged crops will be recompensated, however, the remaining crops needs to be saved on priority and in this regard, directions have been given to clear the irrigation canals at the earliest.<\/div>\n

CEC Khan also met with 47 families of flood-hit Stakpa village who are presently residing at Government Higher Secondary School Sankoo.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
He directed the SDM to conduct a survey for the establishment of a temporary settlement near Stakpa village so that the villagers can take care of their cattle, land and other assets.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
In case if it doesn’t happen, Khan assured that in consultation with the villagers, possibilities will be explored for their temporary settlement within Sankoo town.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The CEC also directed the concerned officers to ensure all basic facilities to the villagers of Stakpa residing at the school premises.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
CEC Khan further requested the general public not to encourage plantation and construction within the vicinity of flood channels in the future.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
On the occasion, Councilor Aga Syed Ahmed Rizvi thanked CEC for the visit and assured full support and assistance on behalf of people of Sankoo to the villagers of Stakpa presently staying at Sankoo.<\/div>\n
